Bridging The Gap
The Texas Disabled Veterans Association (TDVA) participated in the 2nd Annual Bridging The Gap Event held on Saturday, October 17, 2015, from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. The event was organized by the San Antonio Coalition of Veterans and Families (SACVF) and held at VFW Post 76, 10th Street, San Antonio, Texas 78215 which is the oldest VFW Post in the State of Texas. Various Veterans organizations from throughout the city and state provided educational information, informing Veterans of their benefits and entitlements. Vendors provided educational materials of their products and services catering to the needs of Veterans. A BBQ lunch, live music entertainment by Entourage Big Band, games for children, and raffle items were provided by SACVF. All proceeds raised from this event will be used to support the unmet needs in our Veteran community. TDVA gave out informational handouts about our ongoing programs, business cards, and canvas Eco-friendly tote bags to every Veteran who visited our booth. Keynote Speaker was Senator José Menendez (D-26) who spoke about the ongoing efforts by state and local government officials to improve health care for Veterans and legislation to increase ongoing and future entitlements to all Veterans. A salute of gratitude to the local High School ROTC Color Guard and Drill Team. This was a highly successful event and many Veterans will benefit from the proceeds raised through various Veterans programs.
