Xmas at the VA Spinal Cord Unit

Texas Disabled Veterans Association had its Christmas at the Spinal Cord Injury Unit in Audie L. Murphy Veterans Hospital on December 11, 2017. Giving away presents to Patients and Staff. Christmas is the one time a year that we put so much into giving. Even greater is to effect the lives of so many more. Thanks to the many donations, we here at TDVA have been able to keep this tradition alive since 2009. It's just our way of saying thank you to those that give and have given so much. Merry Christmas to all and May God Bless.

12th Annual Bake Sale

On Friday, November 17, 2017, the Audie L. Murphy VAVS Committee hosted the 12thAnnual Thanksgiving Day Bake Sale. 100% of the proceeds went directly to the Veterans at the Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital. Many Veterans have family members who live quite a distance away from the hospital and are unable to visit their loved ones.  These same Veterans also have needs such as reading glasses, undergarments, warm clothing, bus passes to visit other clinics, toiletries and many other basic items. TDVA as well as the Ladies of Alpha Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi provide the hallmark that everyone looks for now with this event. Everything they do is personnel and done with a touch of love. Dan Castillo which is our military historian provided a Medal of Honor display that was well received by all, God Bless.

Holiday Gift Baskets

Every year the Texas Disabled Veterans Association (TDVA) gives to the holiday food basket program, hosted by Veterans Administrative Volunteer Services (VAVS). Thankfully there are many people that give so much food to put these baskets together, feeding those in need. This year we asked what was needed most and the chief of services said that gift cards would be best in order to purchase a Turkey or a Ham for each basket. What you see here is our donation of 40, $25.00 Visa and MasterCard gift cards presented to Elizabeth Cazares and Harry Robinson of VAVS, on November 2, 2017. They will ensure the items get to the families that need them most, each basket will feed up to 6 people. God Bless and happy holidays.
