Christmas With the Spinal Cord Unit

Texas Disabled Veterans Association had its Christmas at the Spinal Cord Injury Unit in Audie L. Murphy Veterans Hospital on December 17, 2018. Helping those that will be there during Christmas, Giving away presents to Patients and Staff. Christmas is the one time a year that we put so much into giving. Even greater is to effect the lives of so many more. Thanks to the many donations, we here at TDVA have been able to keep this tradition alive since 2009. It's just our way of saying thank you to those that give and have given so much. Merry Christmas to all and May God Bless.

Holiday Food Baskets

Every year the Texas Disabled Veterans Association (TDVA) gives to the holiday food basket program, hosted by Veterans Administrative Volunteer Services (VAVS). Thankfully there are many people that give so much food to put these baskets together, feeding those in need. This year, again we asked what was needed most and the chief of services said that gift cards would be best in order to purchase a Turkey or a Ham for each basket. What you see here is our donation of 40, $25.00 HEB gift cards presented to VAVS, on December 7, 2018. They will ensure the items get to the families that need them most, each basket will feed up to 6 people. God Bless and happy holidays.

Veterans Day

TDVA celebrated an early Veteran’s Day on November 9, 2018 at the VA Fisher House located at 7485 Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78229. We set up a military display of photographs, awards, citations, and artifacts in honor of the annual “Home of the Brave Honor Luncheon”. Over 200 people attended the event to include Veterans from Polytrauma, Spinal Cord Injury, inpatients, outpatients, VA Veteran Staff employees, and Veteran’s families who enjoyed great food, live music, door prizes, goodie bags, and camaraderie. This event is attended by many Veterans from all branches of the military and different eras of service. TDVA military exhibits honor military service, promote patriotism, and encourage the study of military history.

Local Blessings

It is with great pride that the Ladies at Alpha Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, donated much needed funds as well as the North Side Lions Charitable Foundation, in the fight for the disabled Vets in our area. Both of these organizations are a true blessing to our mission of helping those that need it most.
